Elliott Laboratories confirmed as a Notified Body

Sunnyvale, CA, June 11, 2009- In an important expansion to its wireless testing and certification capabilities, Elliott Laboratories, an NTS company has recently been confirmed as a Notified Body by the European Commission as a Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) under the Radio & Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (R&TTE Directive) of the telecom annex under the US-EU Mutual Recognition Agreement.

The Notified Body status for the European Union's R&TTE Directive grants Elliott Laboratories the ability to issue formal compliance and regulatory opinions for the CE marking of radio devices. The European Community (EC) has established a mutual recognition scheme for regulated products. Under this scheme, each EC country shall provide to the EC a list of laboratories and other bodies, referred to as "notified bodies", which can declare that a regulated product conforms to the "essential requirements" detailed in the applicable directive.

"The recent achievement of our CAB accreditation is an important element of our strategy for the expansion of our wireless services portfolio," said Eddie Pavlu, General Manager of NTS Silicon Valley. "Our goal is to develop a 'one-stop-shopping' experience for a wide range of wireless device manufacturers, which will eliminate the added costs and complexities of working with multiple service providers to achieve certifications needed to market products all over the world."

Elliott's services as an R&TTE Notified Body include conformity assessments of radio communications devices such as WiFi, WLAN, Bluetooth, RFID and short range devices in accordance with Annex III - Identification of essential radio tests for the R&TTE Directive and Annex IV - Providing advice on how to structure and present a Technical Construction File (TCF) and providing Statements of Opinion on compliance of products with the essential requirements of the R&TTE Directive for radio, EMC and safety based on a TCF.
