Advanced Troubleshooting Techniques for Circuits and Systems-Immunity

Elliott Laboratories to host Seminar on ESD Design and Troubleshooting
Circuit and system designers should mark their calendars for May 14, 2010, when renowned EMC guru, Doug Smith will be presenting a half day lecture on characteristics of ESD, equipment design principles and design troubleshooting techniques.

This seminar describes in depth ESD Design, measurement and troubleshooting principles. Learn the principles of system level ESD, characteristics that have direct and practical application to system level design and principles that enhance ESD immunity in electronic systems. In addition Doug will discuss how to understand and apply high frequency measurement techniques to troubleshoot design problems and relate ESD immunity to EMC system level performance and reliability and provide construction techniques for useful laboratory apparatus for troubleshooting ESD problems. The technical background that will be discussed include properties of ESD, enclosure, design and mechanical issues, software design, troubleshooting and review of current standard activities.

As a special bonus, Doug will include a one year free subscription to his new engineering training site http://CircuitAdvisor.com as part of this seminar. This website is a new interactive approach to learning about circuit theory and techniques that you can use on everyday projects on the job. It includes audio and video files and innovative ideas, products or topics leading the engineering world.

Elliott Laboratories Announces Opening of New Test Laboratory

February 16, 2010 Fremont, CA – In an important expansion to its testing and certification capabilities, Elliott Laboratories, an NTS company announced the opening of a new custom-built Climatic, Environmental and Dynamics Product Testing Laboratory in close proximity to the company’s existing test laboratories in Silicon Valley, California. The new location is over 30,000 square feet, will house a wide range of state-of-the-art testing equipment and services are expected to be online in the second quarter of this year.

In addition to the EMC, product safety and wireless testing services already being performed in the existing Silicon Valley locations, the new location will offer a wide range of complementary services such as shock and vibration testing, thermal stress and extreme environment simulation. These new services open the door to customers in many different industries, ranging from Aerospace and Defense to Telecom and Medical. "This expansion effort represents a major expansion of our test offerings in Northern California, by bringing in all of the complementary testing capabilities needed to fully round out our existing portfolio of services", said Eddie Pavlu, General Manager of Elliott Laboratories/NTS Silicon Valley. "Our customers now have true one-stop shopping for all of their product testing and certification requirements right here in the Bay Area."

These new capabilities make Elliott Laboratories a viable local solution for many Bay Area manufacturers who have had to take their testing requirements to laboratories outside of the region to meet their full range of needs. Additionally, the new capabilities will enable Elliott Laboratories to offer a more complete NEBS testing solution for the many telecom equipment manufacturers in the area.
