FCC Moves on DFS Requirements
On April 26, the FCC took one more step towards the formalization
of the new Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) requirements by
releasing a public notice asking for additional public comment on the
new regulations. The new DFS requirements, which are designed to
prevent interference with military radar systems by wireless devices
operating in the 5 GHz band, are scheduled to go into effect this
July. Once these new regulations go into effect all products
operating in the affected frequency ranges will be required to meet a
stringent set of compliance testing requirements before the FCC will
grant approval for their sale in the United States. For more
information about DFS testing and certification services please

California Power Requirements
The California State Assembly is considering a bill that would
require manufacturers of "appliances" to attach power content labels
to their products that show the energy consumption or energy
efficiency of the appliance, as well as the estimated annual
operational cost both when the appliance is in "active/on" and
"active/standby" modes. The bill exempts appliances that comply with
FTC appliance labeling rules and which display an EnergyGuide label.

New DFS Testing Services at Elliott Labs! |
 |
 |
Is your company prepared to meet the new Dynamic Frequency
Selection or "DFS", requirements (FCC Part 15, subpart E) for
products operating in the 5 GHz band? These formal requirements will
be going into effect this July here in the USA and they will soon be
expanded in Europe, Japan and other markets around the world.
Elliott Laboratories now offers a full range of DFS testing and
certification services. Elliott directly participated in the DFS
standards development process with the FCC and DOD and we have an
excellent comprehension of these requirements and the reasons for
them. In addition, we have invested in an Agilent Performance Signal
Generator and all additional test equipment required to meet the new
testing requirements.
